A Striking Two-Story Extension with Vaulted Ceilings and Gable Glazing.

The Scope: This project in Chorlton involved significant groundworks to build a stunning two-story rear extension. The design focused on maximizing natural light and vertical space, featuring a dramatic vaulted ceiling, large gable-end windows, and a sleek, modern interior finish.

Phase 1: Groundworks & Foundations

Before we could build up, we had to dig deep. A job of this scale requires a flawless base. We managed the extensive groundworks, rerouted necessary drainage, and poured the heavy concrete footings before building up the initial blockwork and brick shell.

Phase 2: Superstructure & Roofing

With a solid foundation in place, we erected the two-story brick exterior and installed the heavy structural steels. We then formed the timber joists for the floors and constructed the impressive pitched roof framework, carefully integrating the structure for the new skylights.

Phase 3: Internal Framing & Plastering

Inside, we utilized precise metal stud work to partition the new rooms and heavily insulated the vaulted roof space. Our plastering team then moved in to expertly skim the complex angles of the ceiling, while the first-fix plumbing and new modern bathroom installation began taking shape.

Phase 4: The Finished Extension

The end result is a spectacular, light-filled space. The exterior boasts crisp brickwork and expansive sliding glass doors, while the interior features continuous light oak flooring, clean lines, and an incredible sense of height thanks to the vaulted ceiling and skylights.
